Colten Hayes

Owner/Head Instructor

Colten Hayes brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach to his role as the Assistant Coach of the Olds Grizzlys in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. A former professional hockey player, Hayes played 235 career games with teams including the Missouri Mavericks, Stockton Thunder, Fort Wayne Komets, Reading Royals, and Alaska Aces. Over his pro career, he accumulated 87 points, 452 penalty minutes, and a +43 rating as a defenseman.

Before his professional career, Hayes played in both the BCHL and AJHL (Langley Chiefs, Drumheller Dragons, and Okotoks Oilers), posting 104 points and 538 penalty minutes in just three years. In the 2010-2011 season, Hayes was named AJHL Defenseman of the Year while with the Okotoks Oilers— a first in franchise history.

With 18 years of coaching and instructional experience, Hayes is also the owner and operator of Coast2Coast Hockey Development, established in 2015. His coaching career highlights include his second stint as Head Coach/GM of the High River Flyers and guiding the U18AA Foothills Bisons to their first winning season in a decade. He has also served as GM/Head Coach for the High River Flyers, Assistant Coach for the Okotoks Bisons, and Head Coach of the U13 AA Foothills Bisons.

Hayes leads by example and believes in building strong relationships with his players. As a players' coach, he strives to foster mutual respect, ensuring that his athletes are motivated to give their best both on and off the ice.

RHETT KINGSTON

Rhett Kingston’s hockey journey is nothing short of inspiring. Starting in Black Diamond and Okotoks minor hockey, Rhett developed into a top-tier player, spending four years with the Notre Dame Hounds before making his mark in the BCHL. His elite play earned him a scholarship to Western Michigan University, where he competed at the NCAA Division 1 level. After playing professionally with the Macon Mayhem in the SPHL and signing with the Rapid City Rush in the ECHL, Rhett has since retired from pro hockey and now plays senior hockey for the Leeroy team in Saskatchewan.

What truly sets Rhett apart is his passion for giving back. As a coach and mentor, Rhett brings his extensive knowledge and experience to help young players elevate their game. Known for his blazing speed, physicality, and hockey IQ, Rhett instills these key traits in the next generation, teaching players how to compete at their best both mentally and physically. His ability to connect with and inspire kids makes him an invaluable asset, helping them realize their full potential on and off the ice. Whether it's working on skill development, teaching discipline, or cultivating a winning mindset, Rhett is a game-changer for every player he works with.

JORDAN HICKMOTT

Jordan Hickmott continues to thrive in professional hockey, currently playing for EC Bad Nauheim in the DEL 2 League in Germany for the 2023-2024 season. Jordan’s journey began in Mission minor hockey, where he developed into a standout player. His talent led him to the WHL, where he spent five successful years with the Medicine Hat Tigers, Prince Albert Raiders, and Edmonton Oil Kings. After his WHL career, Jordan took his game to the University of Alberta, where he excelled both on the ice and in the classroom, playing five years for the Golden Bears.

Jordan’s professional career has taken him across the globe, including stints in the AHL, Slovakian, German, and Austrian leagues. Known for his smooth skating, power forward presence, and an elite ability to finish around the net, Jordan is a constant offensive threat. His high hockey IQ and experience at top levels of play make him a leader both on and off the ice.

Now, as he continues to play overseas, Jordan is passionate about mentoring young players. His expertise in positioning, finishing, and smart, physical play has made him a crucial resource for kids looking to elevate their skills. He emphasizes the importance of hockey sense, work ethic, and maintaining a winning mentality, helping players develop into complete athletes. Jordan’s commitment to the game and his ability to teach it makes him a standout role model for the next generation of talent.
